Jay has been a resident of Kings Mountain since 1990. He holds an undergraduate degree in
Business Administration from Towson University, a MBA from Winthrop University and is a
graduate of LSU Banking School of the South. He is retired after coaching basketball for 11
years at the high school and college levels, a banking career spanning 16 years, and then working
in the financial services, Chamber of Commerce and sports commission arenas for 12 years. His
community involvement includes Kings Mountain Sports Hall of Fame, Treasurer, Voice of the
Mountaineer football team at John Gamble Stadium, Advisory Board member Carolinas
Healthcare System-Cleveland and Kings Mountain, Cleveland County Schools Foundation
Board member, Life Enrichment Center Advisory Board member, Cleveland Community
College Board of Visitors member and Past President Hospice Cleveland County. He and his
wife of 43 years are active members at the First Baptist church in Kings Mountain where Jay
serves as a Deacon. He has two sons, Jason, a farmer, and Jonathan, a banker, and three
grandchildren, Noah, Hudson and Adalyn Marie.
