To better protect the city water supply The City of Kings Mountain adopted a backflow ordinance on 11-9-2023. The ordinance is designed to prevent contaminants from entering the public water system by regulating and controlling any connections that could pose a risk to water quality.

Backflow preventers must be tested annually except for residential irrigation which must be tested every 3 years per state law. The property owner is responsible for having the backflow preventer tested by an approved tester. Kings Mountain is using the Aqua Resources program to ensure compliance and give both testers and customers access to their backflow information. As of December 31, 2025, we will no longer be accepting paper copies or emails of completed tests. For questions regarding backflow information contact Dustin Vaughn.
