KM Housing Committee

About the Board:

The Kings Mountain Housing Committee is authorized to recommended policies, tools and strategies to City Council to accomplish the following:

  • Replace and redevelop aged single-family housing stock and achieve balance targets for the distribution of single-family housing stock in all price bands
  • Replace and redevelop aged multi-family housing stock with mixed-income mixed-use multifamily housing stock, including developments of new stock, and achieving balance targets for the distribution of multi-family housing stock in all price bands
  • Establish local education resources for home buyer readiness, workforce readiness, mentoring, homework assistance, life coaching and soft skills
  • Establish a rental housing permit policy requiring landlords to allow for biannual minimum housing inspections
  • Respond to requests for recommendations on housing related matters presented to the committee by staff or council
  • Work with Staff to develop public-private housing development proposal

Meetings:

  • Meetings are held on the Friday following the regular Tuesday night Council Meeting at 9:00 a.m.
  • Meetings are held in Council Chambers at City Hall, 101 W. Gold Street, Kings Mountain

The Kings Mountain Housing Committee is comprised of three Councilmembers, who are appointed at the Organizational Meeting of City Council, as well as the currently seated Director of the Kings Mountain Housing Authority and the Chairperson of the Planning & Zoning Board.
