Kings Mountain Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

About the Board:

City Council adopted the Comprehensive Recreation Master Plan 2024-2034 at their regular meeting of Tuesday, July 30, 2024.  The Kings Mountain Parks and Recreation Advisory Board was created in an effort to allow citizens to share in the creation of their community recreation and neighborhood parks. The advisory board will be charged with assisting staff with the following:

  • Assist City Staff in setting up policies – such as standards for all parks including standardized benches, trash receptacles, and signage.
  • Assist/Advise City Staff on areas of concern pertaining to Parks and Recreation.
  • Advise City Staff on community needs and wants pertaining to current and future Parks, Recreation and Beautification activities and facilities for their ward neighborhoods.
  • Advocate for funding for Parks and Recreation.
  • Assist City Staff in revitalizing and maintaining Keep KM Beautiful.
  • Volunteer and recruit volunteers to assist with Parks, Recreation and Beautification initiatives.
  • Meetings are held on the second Monday each month at 6:00pm.
  • Meetings are held in the Mauney Memorial Library Community Room.

Members:

The Committee shall be comprised of one citizen from each of the City’s five electoral wards, one at-large member, one student from Kings Mountain High School, one Councilmember, the Cultural Enrichment Director, the City Engineer, and one future Parks and Recreation staff member. This will ensure that every neighborhood within the City has a voice specific to where they live in Kings Mountain.
