Patrol Operations
The Kings Mountain Police Departments Patrol and Field Operations Division consist of four distinct units. Patrol, School Resource Officers, K9's and Administrative. The Captain of this Division oversees the day to day operations and duties of these areas within the police department. Currently this Division has 38 full and part-time employees underneath its structure.
The Patrol Division is the backbone of the department as it is primarily responsible for the initial response for the citizen’s calls for police services. The Patrol Division is comprised of four squads that work 12 hour permanent non-rotating shifts to cover 24 hours a day and 365 days a year service to the City of Kings Mountain. Each squad is supervised by a Sergeant and Corporal.
Each patrol squad has an assigned K-9 unit. Currently the department has 4 K-9’s that are utilized in many different ways from narcotics detection, suspect tracking, and locating missing persons.
There are currently 5 school resource officers assigned to different schools within the Kings Mountain city limits. These officers provide school safety along with forming partnerships with the children and staff they serve.
The Administrative Sergeant, oversees recruiting within the department along with handling walk-in reports, building maintenance, social media outreach, Off-Duty Employment, and community engagement activities.
