VICE/ ABC Permits

The Kings Mountain Police Department’s VICE/ABC Unit is a specialized investigative team dedicated to addressing crimes that threaten the safety and integrity of our community, including narcotics enforcement, prostitution, illegal gambling, human trafficking, and other quality-of-life offenses. This unit is also tasked with enforcing North Carolina ABC laws as well.  The unit focuses on proactive investigations, intelligence gathering, and strategic enforcement efforts aimed at dismantling criminal networks and reducing the influence of vice-related activity in Kings Mountain. Working collaboratively with local, state, and federal partners, the VICE/ABC Unit combines covert operations with community-based initiatives to target offenders while promoting prevention, education, and rehabilitation. Through these efforts, the unit plays a vital role in preserving public trust and maintaining a safe, thriving community for all residents.

Who Must Obtain a Alcoholic Beverage Permit

Each Business located withing the city limits of Kings Mountain that sells/serves alcoholic beverages is required by North Carolina State Law to obtain the correct permit through North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission. 

To review the requirements including the application and documents needed visit the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission (NCABC) (https://abc.nc.gov/). Prior to submitting the required documents to the state, you will need to schedule an appointment with the Sergeant of Criminal Investigations to review your documents and have them sign the local government opinion form.

Additional to the state requirements

The City of Kings Mountain requires a privilege license to sell alcoholic beverages within the city limits. This privilege license must be purchased annually. The business year for the privilege license begins July 1st, and end June 30th of the following year. A license to sell alcoholic beverages inside the city must be renewed no later than June 30th of each year.
